Jimena Rivera is a third-year undergraduate at the University of South Florida majoring in Health Sciences. Born and raised in Tampa, Florida, she recently earned her Associate of Art’s Degree in Biological Sciences from Hillsborough Community College. Jimena first joined AMSA in 2021, serving as a director in her local AMSA chapter. Within the same year, she became the Vice President of Operations where her love for medicine grew. Her career goal is to become a Physician Assistant with an interest in emergency medicine or surgery. As the new Health Equity Policy Coordinator, she plans on advocating for mental health, women’s rights, and closing health disparities. Jimena believes her time as a national leader will help her grow to be a better advocator and help improve health quality for all. In her free time, Jimena loves solving jigsaw puzzles, traveling, and taking care of her two rescued bunnies.
