Oscar Cazares

Premedical Membership Director

Oscar Cazares recently graduated from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) with a dual degree in Biology and Psychology and a Medical Humanities minor. He is currently pursuing a second UTRGV Bachelor’s degree in Political Science while studying for the MCAT. Oscar has a couple of AMSA accolades at the national level. He raised from the ground up an AMSA Chapter that soon thereafter won a Paul R. Wright Chapter Success Award at the 2019 AMSACon. At the 2021 AMSACon, the same Chapter won a 1st place title for a disability campaign that Oscar founded and supervised. For the past AMSA term, he served his first AMSA national-level leadership position as the Programming Coordinator for National AMSA’s Wellness & Student Life Action Committee. Oscar has also served in his university’s student government and has been involved in a variety of research projects, one of which currently involves taking measures related to sleep, stress, and physiological health.
