Medical trainees seek clinical experiences for a variety of reasons. U.S. premed students seek experiences to enhance their medical school application, while medical students are often looking to meet educational requirements and gain the experience needed to apply for residency. When you participate in a clinical experience, you will do more than that. You will:
Gain a Support System
We have a team of AMO advisors to provide you with all the information you need to feel confident in booking your experience. They can even offer you recommendations based on your individual needs and interests. When you commit to an experience with AMO, you are connected to a personal AMO Visitor Experience Coach to guide you as you enroll and plan for your clinical experience with AMO.
Earn a Letter of Recommendation
Our physicians know many visitors participate in clinical experiences to gain letters of recommendation (LoRs). Once a visitor completes their clinical experience, they are eligible to request a merit-based LoR from this individual.
Make Connections
The connections you make during this experience can help you practice good professional and patient communication, both interpersonal skills that will be foundational in your future as a medical professional.
Elevate Clinical Skills and Knowledge
If you are planning to take the USMLE, a clinical experience allows you to practice clinical skills and medical terminology in a real-world setting.
